ULTY analysis

Mel's reshaped kit leads a patch of small buffs

Most of the patch is small buffs for champions and roles that had fallen behind, such as jungle tanks, Naafiri mid, Zaahen and Corki. A few strong picks (Thresh, Locke, Yasuo) and Doran's Bow get small nerfs, and Mel's rework shifts her power to later in the game. Expect slightly more diverse top, jungle and mid picks, but the individual changes are small, so no single pick should dominate.

Trends

  1. 01

Jungle and top tanks get help

Maokai and Shen get boosts to jungle clear and damage, and Overlord's Bloodmail gets stronger for most juggernauts. Together they make tanky and bruiser jungle and top picks more appealing.

  2. 02

    Strong picks are trimmed

Thresh, Locke and Yasuo all take nerfs aimed at champions that were excelling in high-level play. Doran's Bow also loses a point of AD, so marksman starts are a bit less one-sided.

  3. 03

Mages and marksmen get scaling buffs

Viktor, Rumble, Corki and Aurelion Sol all receive more damage or better ratios on key abilities. Several of them also gain late-game strength, favoring long games.

  4. 04

Mel trades early game for scaling

Mel's lower base stats and weaker Q ratio make her worse early, while the cooldown refunds and the faster ultimate cooldown aim to reward longer fights. Whether the new W makes up for the loss will need a few days of data.

  • Doran's Bow

    Nerf

One less attack damage is a small but real cut to the standard marksman start. It should make Doran's Blade a more even choice instead of Bow being automatic.

  • Overlord's Bloodmail

    Buff

10 more base AD makes the item a better stat purchase for most users, while a smaller Retribution bonus slightly cuts what Sett gets from it. For juggernauts other than Sett, it becomes a more reasonable capstone.
